An appreciation

I would like to thank all those good people who have listened to me pouring out ideas and for asking some very perceptive questions, for helping with experiments, for encouraging me at every turn of events and for simply being here to allow me to be outside. In no sort of order you are Angela Edgar, Bobbie Armstrong, Bill Cochrane, Leslie Barr, Malcolm Jones, Jan Wilson, Shiela Armstrong, Paul Waterston, Rob Gray, Leslie Walton, Bill Lilly, Bob Freeman, Nigel Willis, Gary Brodt, Dan Wright, Bill James, Grant Gilmour, David MacAlister, Robert Kerr and the host of carers who look after Valerie and give me time off.

Our daughter Ann has been the font of good advice and it is important to emphasise that my wife Valerie, being always in good spirits, makes everything I do possible.
